[introduce Album] 앨범 소개 (글: 음반사 배포 자료)

 

1988년부터 이듬해까지 본 조비(Bon Jovi), 데프 레퍼드(Def Leppard), 반 헤일런(Van Halen), 화이트스네이크(Whitesnake), 포이즌(Poison) 등과 자웅을 겨루며 최고의 앨범 판매고를 기록했던 건스 앤 로지스의 역사적인 데뷔 앨범이다. 이 앨범만큼 놀라운 대기만성을 보인 작품은 일찍이 본적이 없었다. 본작은 "Sweet Child O'mine"이 빌보드 싱글차트 정상에 오르며 발매된지 1년이 지나서야 서서히 챠트에서 기지개를 켜기 시작했고 이내 데프 레퍼드의 [Hysteria]와 앞서거니 뒤서거니 2년 가까이 숨바꼭질을 벌였던 만큼의 저력있는 내용물을 담고 있다. "Sweet Child O'mine "Welcome To The Jungle "Paradise City"가 연이어 싱글차트 탑 텐에 올랐고, 앨범은 메가히트를 기록하며 역시 데프 레퍼드의 [Hysteria]와 마찬가지로 다이아몬드 레코드를 획득하게 된다. 비단 1980년대의 팝 메틀에 한정짓지 않더라도 20세기 락/메틀 음반 순위를 꼽는다면 반드시 포함되어야 할 명작이다. 글/ 이태훈(hyangmusic)

1980년대 말에서 1990년대 초에 크게 인기를 끈 미국의 하드 록 밴드. 그들이 발표한 1987년 데뷔 앨범 《Appetite for Destruction》과 1988년작 GN'R Lies, 1991년에 발표된 더블 앨범 《Use Your Illusion I》과 《Use Your Illusion II》는 전 세계적으로 폭발적인 인기를 끌었다
