참고로 영화는 동화 백설공주를 모티브로 한 작품으로 대략적인 줄거리는 폭정으로 통치되는 왕국의 허영심 많고 이기적인 레베나 왕비(샤를리즈 테론 )는 자신의 의붓딸인 백설공주(크리스틴 스튜어트)가 자신을 제치고 ‘세상에서 가장 아름다운 여자’일 뿐만 아니라 미래에 왕국을 통치하게 될 인물이라는 사실을 알게 되는데 왕비는 마법의 거울(크리스토퍼 오비)로부터 권좌를 지킬 수 있는 유일한 방법을 알게 되는데, 그것은 바로 백설공주의 심장을 먹고 불로불사의 존재가 되는 것이다. 백설공주는 왕비를 피해 어둠의 숲으로 달아나고, 왕비는 사냥꾼 에릭(크리스 헴스워스)에게 백설공주를 찾아 죽이라는 명령을 내린다. 하지만 에릭은 오히려 백설공주를 동정하여 그녀에게 싸움 기술을 전수해준다. 백설공주는 일곱 명의 난쟁이와 윌리엄 왕자(샘 클라플린)의 도움으로 계모인 왕비를 몰아내기 위하여 반란을 일으킨다는 내용이다. 흥행은 성공했다.
